Mechanical and plumbing design for New High School #4 for the Perris High School Union District. The design forms four small unique learning communities (SLC), each with a decentralized administration, teacher professional center and a Center of Applied Learning (CAL) providing personalized instruction for each student. Each pair of small learning communities are designed with professional centers for teacher collaboration and exploration of programs, teaching strategies and preparation. Center for Advanced Science Exploration (CASE) provides specialized lab environments for the application and exploration of the sciences and their integration into the academic environment of each SLC.
Mechanical systems include high efficiency package units (up to 17.5 SEER) with modulating powered exhaust, multi-stage compressor logic, staged air volume, and environmentally sound refrigerant.
Plumbing systems include utility infrastructure for multiple education buildings, including domestic cold and hot water, sanitary waste and vent, grease waste and vent, and natural gas.
The design also incorporates extensive sustainability strategies that result in building performance that exceeds Title-24 energy requirements by 25%. The design team received the maximum rebate in energy-efficiency incentives from San Diego Gas & Electrics Savings by Design program.
