Mechanical and plumbing systems design for this 150,000 SF, 4-story academic and lab building, which includes 73 state-of-the-art laboratory facilities for chemistry, biology, marine science and environmental studies, biochemistry, physics and related sciences as well as research areas, classrooms and offices.
The mechanical design includes the expansion of the underground mechanical utilities (chilled and hot water) for connection to the existing campus utility distribution. The laboratory areas contain chemical fume hoods, radioisotope hoods, biological safety cabinets, secondary containment, canopy hood, snorkel fume extractor, slot exhaust, fume hood chemical scrubbers, etc. The plumbing systems include various laboratory process piping such as vacuum, compressed air, acid waste systems, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and oxygen gases.
