Complete AHU replacement / renovation for this 60,000 square foot cancer research center.
The existing mechanical system is a combination of constant volume Air Handling Units (AHUs), as well as numerous fan four-pipe coil units and split system DX-units scattered throughout the building.
As part of this mechanical renovation, MA Engineers conducted a detailed Life Cycle analysis to consider initial capital cost, utility cost and maintenance cost savings.
As part of this retrofit, all above ceiling FC-units (four-pipe FC-units and / or DX split systems) were replaced with variable air volume air handling units equipped with VAV Phoenix valve boxes throughout the first floor (30,000 SF), and the second floor (30,000 SF) will be converted at a later time. The new AHUs employ the concept of fan wall technology by Huntair. The new Energy Management Control System (EMCS) is Siemens.
