Mechanical and plumbing design for Agua Caliente Elementary School. The design draws heavily from the Desert Modernism that typifies the Palm Springs area. The schools’ curriculum is unique. A science focused curriculum requires the inclusion of two larger, science focused classrooms to support the program. The campus includes: 7 Pre & K classrooms, 25 general classrooms, a multi-purpose room, a music room, a planting garden and a two-story library anchoring the campus.
Mechanical systems include high efficiency gas electric rooftop package units and split systems AC units for select areas with efficient air distribution serving classrooms, administration, multipurpose, library, gymnasium support and kitchen areas. Electrical rooms, elevator equipment rooms, and IDF rooms are served by individual cooling only split systems. Restrooms, locker rooms and janitor rooms are exhausted with roof mounted or inline exhaust fans.
Plumbing systems include sanitary waste and vent, grease waste systems, domestic hot and cold water systems, gas distribution system, and storm water system.
The project is designed to exceed CA T-24 by 25% and provides a generous amount of roof area and parking lot for future on-site energy generation in conjunction with PSUSD’s Power Plan.
