Mechanical and plumbing systems design for two new office buildings located at the Cubic Corporation Balboa Campus. The new Corporate Building is approximately 125,000 SF and consists of office and assembly areas. The CTS Building is also approximately 125,000 SF and consists of 70% office areas and 35% research & development areas.
The mechanical systems consist of multiple high efficiency air-cooled variable refrigerant flow (VRF) multi-unit split air conditioning systems, data center computer room AC units, a kitchen rooftop packaged tempered air AC unit,
electric/IDF/elevator machine room ductless AC split systems, filtered outside air units, building relief/restroom/kitchen hood/trash/atrium smoke evacuation exhaust fans and direct digital controls (DDC).
The plumbing system for this facility consists of general plumbing (restrooms), high efficiency, gas‐fired water heaters, storage tank, and low‐flow fixtures. It also includes compressed air for labs. Sanitary waste and vent provided to restrooms, showers, and lab sinks.
Sustainable features include each VRF system allowing simultaneous heating and cooling to each fan coil unit and utilizes optimized energy efficiency control strategies.
