As LEED has become a prevalent industry benchmarking tool, MA Engineers has expanded our scope of services to include detailed energy modeling. Numerous LEED credits require comprehensive energy modeling to assess point awards. As such we have used energy modeling on all LEED projects.
MA Engineers uses EnergyPro, the California standard in energy modeling software, to determine total design energy savings of all our projects; LEED or otherwise. This tool assists in helping the client to understand the benefits of sustainable design on their specific projects, and is also used as we assess our HVAC energy savings strategies in-house on a project by project basis.
Typical Energy and HVAC modeling software is used on text based data input, and does not provide a truly dynamic real-world approach to energy modeling. In order to remain in on the cutting edge, MA Engineers recently procured IES Virtual Environment (IESVE) dynamic modeling software to use on our more complex sustainable projects.
